Board of Directors Meeting 4:45 PM. Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Our program will feature Rachael Heaton, who will present a program on behalf of the Treehouse Wildlife Center. If you have ever have an injured animal show up in your front yard, these folks may be able to help so this would be a good program to attend if you have any animal lovers in your family. Rachael will explain what types of animals they will take and what they generally do to help these animals recover.

Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Our program will feature Professor John Williams, who teaches at Political Science at Principia College. He will discuss the background and significance of the current controversy regarding the South China Sea, which, whether we like it or not, could seriously impact our relationship with China. This will be a very topical and interesting program and would be a good program for a guest or two if you are so inclined.

Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Dr. Dale Chapman, President of Lewis and Clark College, will present a program regarding present plans for programs and projects at Lewis and Clark College over the next fiscal year.

August 22, 2016 The Alton Sports Tap
Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Our program will feature Don Groshong, who is an Alton attorney and who is also a chess enthusiast. He is going to discuss the St. Louis Chess Club and Scholastic Center and the Chess Hall of Fame, both located in St. Louis, and the significance of the Sinquefield Chess Tournament going on there now. While chess might not sound like an exciting topic, when you factor in the personalities of the various world master chess players who have participated in chess matches at the St. Louis Chess Club, you will be amazed that this facility in our own back yard.

Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Greg Caffey, the Economic Development Director for the City of Alton will present a program updating us on the status of the new Alton Train Station and what it will mean for the community.

Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Our program will feature US Representative Mike Bost, who will discuss recent developments in the US Congress and upcoming issues at the federal level.

Club members will gather at 7:00 AM to setup the base and frame for the Community Christmas Tree.

Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. David Hayes, a former Alton-Godfrey Rotary member and former Chief of Police in Alton. David is now working with a police task force in the Greater St. Louis area to get more thorough training for law enforcement personnel in dealing with confrontational issues. You will be surprised at the amount of training and cost that goes into putting our officers on the street these days.

November 14, 2016 Lincoln Douglas Square
Members will gather at 8:00 AM to complete the construction of the Community Christmas Tree. The city truck will be available to help put the panels on the tree frame.

Santa Claus arrives at Lincoln-Douglas Square at 6:00; the free festivities including caroling, cookies & cocoa will continue until 6:45 when Mayor Brant Walker flips the lights on the beautiful tree, provided by the Alton-Godfrey Rotary Club.

Wreaths Across America is a national program conducted each year to honor those who have served in the United States Military. Margaret Hopkins is our local organizer for this event.

Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Our program will feature Dr. Jill O’Shea Lane, who is Dean of Academic Programs at Lewis and Clark College. She will discuss the new Honors College Program at Lewis and Clark. This program provides advanced, rigorous courses for highly motivated students “right here at home”.

Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. We try to schedule a program in January that will encourage our members to get on an exercise program for the new year. On January 30, our program will feature Lucas Hale, a certified personal trainer and longevity specialist at Senior Services Plus in Alton, who will discuss the programs and equipment at the Wellness Center at Senior Services Plus. This is a very inexpensive way to follow through on your new year’s resolution to get in shape.

February 6, 2017 Gentelin's on Broadway
Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Our program will feature Dustin Maguire, an attorney based in Edwardsville, who concentrates his practice on domestic relations issues such as divorce, child custody and related marital matters. Divorce law in Illinois has changed in many respects recently and Dustin will discuss those changes, including recent changes regarding visitation rights for parents and grandparents, a subject that is near and dear to all of us.

Regular Meeting 6:00 PM. Our program will feature Dennis Wilmsmeyer, who is the current Director of the facility now known as America’s Central Port. This is the former site of the US Army Granite City Depot and the Tri-City Regional Port District. You would be amazed at what has already happened at this facility in the past few years and what is projected for the future. Our program is entitled “An Evening With Benjamin Godfrey and Friends” and will feature Benjamin Godfrey and one or more of his business associates who will discuss the details and current status of the Benjamin Godfrey Legacy Trail Project, which is being directed by the North Alton Godfrey Business Council and by other notable community leaders.

The club officers and volunteer members of the club will be meeting at Johnson's Corner with the District 6460 Visioning Team. The visioning process is designed to help a Rotary club create its own vision and to discover for itself the steps necessary to achieve that vision.

The Alton-Godfrey Rotary Golf Scramble will begin at 11:00 am with check-in at 10:00 am. A steak dinner for club members, guests, and golfers will follow the golf scramble beginning around 5:30 pm.

Student of the Year Banquet. Social beginning at 5:30 p.m.; meeting and dinner to follow at 6:00 PM. Student of the Year and the winner of the Bill Moyer Scholarship will be recognized. High Schools will receive recognition plaques listing the names of the students who were recognized as Students of the Month during the 2017-2018 school year.
